It is well known that the Wright Brothers first heavier-than-air powered flight took place in America in 1903. It would be a number of years before the aeroplane would be demonstrated in the United Kingdom. The romantic fantasy pictured in this song slightly pre-dates the official first flight in the UK, which occurred in 1908. Such is the imagination of the popular song writer of the day!
